On the southwestern coast of Sardinia, within the territory of Domus De Maria, is the small Caletta della Torre, about 500 metres northwest of the lighthouse of Capo Spartivento.
A pleasant dirt path connects the lighthouse to the cove, reachable on foot or by bicycle.
Mostly made up of light-brown granite boulders, the small beach looks like a deep inlet between the rocks, about 70 metres wide and 120 metres long.
The sandy shore is very shallow and consists of small and medium-sized pebbles alternating with light grey sand. The seabed is shallow, however, and the crystal-clear water takes on shades of turquoise and green. Scented Mediterranean plants such as euphorbia, juniper, myrtle, mastic and maritime pine provide the backdrop.
The site features the ruins of a modern rectangular structure made of concrete blocks with a curious mural on the wall, depicting a girl and a crow.
A concrete quay extends for about 15 metres from the beach towards the sea, leaning against the natural rock and providing an ideal foothold for anglers.
From the small beach, you can admire the lighthouse of Capo Spartivento to the southeast, and the islets of Ferraglione and Padiglioni to the south-west. Given the small size of the beach and the absence of any kind of service, this is a destination for those who like secluded and uncrowded places.
