Cala Marina beach is located near the well-known seaside resort of Santa Margherita di Pula in southern Sardinia.
It lies on the south-western slope, between the two beaches of Riva dei Pini and Su Pilastru. The beach is about 300 metres in length and 40 in width, with fine white and golden sand lapped by crystal-clear turquoise and emerald green sea.
This sandy beach is particularly windswept, making it a favourite destination for surfers, windsurfers, kitesurfers and underwater fishing enthusiasts. A thick pine forest behind the shore hides several small villas surrounded by greenery. There is a range of accommodation facilities, including the Rocca Dorada and Capo Blu hotels, only a short distance away.
The beach features the so-called Scoglio del Barbagianni. It is a rocky outcrop located between the water and the shoreline, tied to a peculiar legend. It is said that one night, a barn owl with blood-stained talons landed on the originally white rock, clutching fragments of human remains. The following day, the rock turned crimson red—and has remained that way ever since...
