Beach of Campana Dune

Domus de Maria

Campana Dune is a beach on the renowned coastline of Chia, in southwestern Sardinia, within the municipal boundaries of Domus de Maria.

Spread over nearly 400 metres of sand, it is adjacent to the beautiful beach of Su Giudeu, which can be reached on foot via a flat cliff covered with dunes.

Named after the spectacular sand dunes that frame it, 300 metres of fine and soft golden sand dotted with centuries-old junipers and other plants of the Mediterranean maquis, the beach is safe even for the small children and well sheltered from the winds. The water is clear with turquoise and emerald hues extending meters from the shore. While its favourable position and sheltered layout make this beach especially safe and well protected from the winds, it is part of a very delicate ecosystem that formed slowly over millennia.

The entire area behind it is a large natural system of sand, granite rocks and, above all, lagoons that host a dense colony of pink flamingos and other resident and migratory bird species. Walking on top of the dunes or damaging the ecosystem’s integrity in any way is forbidden.

Given its size (a total area of about 10,000 square metres), the site can comfortably accommodate up to 1,200 visitors.
