The Sanjust baronial palace is located in the centre of Teulada, opposite the paved square of the Church of Madonna del Carmine.
It was built in the 17th century for the Cathalans family, a noble Spanish family who obtained the fiefdom of the territory from the Spanish central government from around 1600 to 1700, before passing it into the hands of the Sanjust family.
The palace has two floors and two façades with a rectilinear layout: the main one faces Piazza Parrocchia, and the rear façade overlooks the garden. The central entrance has a white framing, with a pointed arch leading to a covered corridor and the garden behind.
On the upper floor, the window above the entrance boasts the heraldic coat of arms of the Cathalans and a metal balcony. A portico with round arches graces the rear of the historic house on both the ground floor and the upper floor. While the two largest openings on the ground floor are arched, those on the upper floor are straight.
The wall structures are characterised by well-squared sandstone blocks and clay bricks bonded with cement mortar, visible in some cases due to the lack of plaster. The roof is double pitched with tiles.
Today, the palace is one of the most important places in Teulada's history: it is an exhibition, meeting and cultural space, with the town's library and historical archives on the ground floor. The palace can be also hired for weddings, upon request.
