On the southwestern coast of Sardinia, along one of the most beautiful scenic roads in Italy (the S.P. 71), is the beach called Campionna.
Part of a larger ‘rias’ coastal system – inlets formed by submerged river valleys – the beach is framed by seascapes that alternate high, rough granite rocks with a low, sandy coastline. Campionna is a 250-metre strip of very fine, snow-white sand, while the seabed alternates between sand, gravel, and rocks.
The crystal-clear water ranges from emerald green to turquoise blue. Beachgoers also enjoy a view of the islet of the same name, about 100 metres off the shoreline. It is large granite boulder that rises from the sea like a natural pyramid, festooned with cistus and mastic trees at the top.
Set against a backdrop of granite rocks and centuries-old junipers, maritime pines and myrtle plants, this is a wild and unspoilt beach where one can find colours and scents all year round, but no kiosks, umbrella hire, or refreshment facilities are available.

The beach has easy access from the S.P. 71, and free parking facilities.
